Long Island Restaurant Week will be an annual event on Long Island. The week long promotion features a special prix fixe dinner offered by all restaurant participants. The Fourth Annual Long Island Restaurant Week is scheduled to launch from Sunday, November 1st through Sunday, November 8th, 2009.

In addition to its beautiful beaches, lovely historic villages, vineyards and shopping, Long Island is well known for its dining scene. Some of the finest cuisine on the East Coast is available in this region less than an hour from New York City. And for one week, at the tail end of harvest season, Long Island dining will be available for bargain prices. The idea is simple: for one week, Sunday to Sunday, all participating restaurants offer a three-course prix fixe for $24.95 all night, except Saturday when it will be offered only until 7 p.m. Each restaurant offers their own unique menu.

The inspiration for this event came from the successful New York Restaurant Week that runs annually in Manhattan every January and is modeled after the uber successful Hamptons Restaurant Week. In the past five years of Hamptons Restaurant Week, restaurateurs experienced a surge in business, some, by more than 50% during the promotion.
