About WordHampton PR Long Island Restaurant Week

About WordHampton PR

WordHampton launched the first Long Island Restaurant Week in 2006, after running four extremely successful Hamptons Restaurant Weeks and in response to a overwhelming interest from restaurants throughout Long Island to participate in a restaurant week. The original idea stemmed from client Jerry Della Femina who proposed an East End dining experience similar to New York Restaurant Week. WordHampton put legs on the idea by signing up top East End restaurants and publicizing the event in national, metropolitan and local media.

The premise of Restaurant Weeks is to attract new diners at sluggish periods by restaurants putting forward their best menu and service at a fraction of the price. On Long Island, during early-November, restaurants experience a traditionally slow pre-holiday period. In 2006, the first Long Island Restaurant Week was launched garnering a huge positive response with over 100 restaurants participating and serving an estimated 80,000 meals across Long Island. In 2009, the fourth Long Island Restaurant Week will be held from Sunday, November 1 through Sunday November 8.

Established in 1992, WordHampton Public Relations is the number one public relations agency on the East End of Long Island. We represent clients from sectors including food and beverage, hospitality, construction and real estate services, health and beauty, the arts, retail and security systems. We are also the organizers of Long Island Restaurant Week and Hamptons Restaurant Week which have generated millions of dollars in revenue for participating businesses since 2003.

Our mission is to build our clients' reputations. Through strategic thinking, deep media relationships and a commitment to quality, we build awareness and visibility for our clients by getting - and keeping - their names in the press. Our clients value editorial endorsement to drive continued interest in, and business, for them.
