We arrived at Blue in Bluepoint to find that they would not honor the reservation. If we wanted to eat we would have to sit in the bar. The hostess was rude and snotty, guaranteeing that we will not set foot in the establishment again! Sort of defeated the whole idea of gaining new customers during restaurant week! Our party of four left and went to South Country Inn for the best seafood dinners around...at restaurant week prices without the hassle.

Just got an email saying Thyme Restaurant & Cafe Bar in Roslyn is extending their menu all month. Awesome news! We went last Thursday and the food was great...nice size portions too and lots of choices on the menu with only a few that cost extra. The guitarist playing at the bar was great too. We're definetly going back again!

Thank you to all our guests for making restaurant week 2010 such a great success. Due to the overwhelming positive response, and because you so graciously asked, we have decided to extend our restaurant week menu through the month of November. Enjoy!! Enjoy a complementary glass of house wine or domestic tap beer with every restaurant week purchase.

LI Restaurant Week is a great idea but unfortunately too many of the restaurants refuse to comply. Mirabelle at 3 Village Inn had extra charges everywhere: $2 more for Mousse, extra for certain main meals, $3 extra on an appetizer. Buttera in Sayville only offered 1 appetizer when 3 were on the menu and of course had to offer you the regular menu as well, a favorite stunt. Casa Rustica, a superb Italian restaurant in Smithtown (unlike the mediocre Buttera) added an extra $5 to my check, hopefully in error. Something on the menu warranted an add'l $5. The idea is to get people to come back, isn't it? So why not go along for one friggin' week?

Our 8th and last night of restaurant week dinners was a success at Red in Huntington. Cozy, great service and great food. Started with a stack of buffalo mozzarella with roasted veggies, followed by wild mushroom risotto and Italian cheesecake. Thanks to all the restaurants who participated and thanks to the organizers. Hope it was successful all around.

Just returned from a lovely evening at Thyme in Roslyn. We were very graciously accommodated by the owner after I erroneously mixed up our reservation time for restaurant week. The duck, lamb shank, apple salad and chocolate dessert and creme caramel were exceptional. We have dined here many times before and will continue to do so. Staff and service is wonderful and I cannot say enough nice things about Thyme.

I had made a reservation through the Open Table link for Pentimento in Stony Brook for tonight. When we got there, they did not have the reservation because they are not members of Open Table (the link was for another restaurant named Pentimento in California). Luckily, they were able to seat us, even though the dining room was very busy. We had a great meal topped off with the best tiramisu I've ever had. And I just noticed that the Open Table link has been taken off this website for Pentimento. From now on I will double check to make sure it is the correct restaurant location if I use Open Table.

Cafe Testarossa in Syosset had a wide variety of choices. I had seared scallop over risotto, veal scallopini and an apple turnover. All very delicious. The waitstaff was excellent, especially our waiter, Brian. Yet another great meal.

Our fifth night out and once again another great meal, this time at Snapper Inn in Oakdale. Many great selections (their Restaurant Week menu is posted) and the food was terrific. The prime rib was excellent and took home half the meal because the portion was so big. The service was excellent as well. Out of the 8 restaurants we are visiting this week, only 4 of them list their Restaurant week menu. But for those not posted we chose restaurants based on how good their regular menu sounds and have not been disappointed yet. There was only one substitution so far at Sugar Dining Den and that was dessert. They ran out of the cupcake sliders and substituted a giant rainbow cookie cake. No complaints here. Delicious.
